What skill level is required for the Starfish trips? Skill Level: Skill levels will range from the beginner to the advanced paddler. Beginners will be taught the skills necessary to enjoy the trips and the advanced paddler can be challenged by the much more challenging island cuts that provide opportunities to hone in on your surfing skills. Our instructors are also able to teach rolling skills to those wanting to give it a try. Miles Traveled: Starfish trips typically travel between 3-5 miles per day. This gives everyone the opportunity to enjoy the many other things to do in the Exumas such as hiking, snorkeling, spear fishing, reading a good book or just relaxing on the beach. Experienced paddlers are invited to venture out on their own if they want more paddling distance. Ocean Kayaking: Most of the kayaking is in the protection of the harbor. On occasion, if the weather is great, we may venture out into the ocean. There are some cuts between the islands that can have ocean swells and currents. Age Limits: We recommend that children be at least 8-13 years of age accompanied by an adult in a double kayak. We do have a couple of small single expedition sea kayaks that would be appropriate for smaller kids ages 14 and up. Water: We recommend 1 gallon per person per day. Water cannot be gotten out on the course so all water must be carried for the entire trip time. Trip
